Country Fans Out of Luck in New York City

Country Western artists, front row from left, Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and LeAnn Rimes make an appearance at City Hall in New York Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005. They were helping kick off a week of country-themed events leading up to the Nov. 15th 39th annual Country Music Association Awards ceremony in New York. Organizers of the awards acknowledge their move from Nashville to New York is tied to finding a radio home (and creating a marketing arm) in the Big Apple. (AP Photo/Shiho Fukada)Spin the radio dial in the nation's largest city, and the choices are dizzying. Talk shows in English and en Espanol. Smooth jazz and heavy metal. Nonstop hip-hop and 24-hour news. Classic rock and all-sports. But AM or FM, one thing remains absent: A country music station.
